We have an exciting opportunity to join our information systems team as a Manager of Health Information Systems.

The Manager of Health Information Systems overall responsibility is to provide leadership, functional support, design, instruction, oversight and guidance of the Health Information Management and Enterprise Content Management applications. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:  direct management of the HIM analysts, 3rd party application analysts and the Enterprise Content Management analysts.  In addition, the Manager of Health Information Systems will be responsible for developing system strategies with executive management and other stakeholders, conducting business needs analyses, identifying and mitigating project risks, supporting the application’s users and assisting in the implementation of all information technology systems in the specific HIM and ECM areas.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Creates/Maintains standard operating procedures for department
  • Develops functional requirements, specifications and system design specifications for business requests.
  • Develops or oversees the development of system documentation, user manuals and training classes for application suite.
  • Creates and maintains detailed test plans and scripts.
  • Leads testing efforts and ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates current state processes and identifies gaps to future state process around utilization of applications to maximize departmental and organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communicates and applies project standards.
  • Assists in enforcement of project deadlines and schedules.
  • Manages resources in accordance with project schedule.
  • Consistently delivers high-quality services to business stakeholders.
  • Understands the components of running a fiscally successful project.
  • Assists in the facilitation of team and client meetings.
  • Delivers informative, well-organized presentations.
  • Provides ongoing analysis, maintenance, and technical and functional support for application systems throughout the organization. 
  • Provides leadership and technical guidance to identify system deficiencies and analyze system problems and solutions.
  • Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems.
  • Performs annual and semi-annual performance reviews
  • Assists with managing department Opex/Capex budgets to include invoice processing/approvals and Capital Expenditure/Purchase Order creation and processing.
  • Participates in support on-call rotation.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or other business related field
  • Epic certification(s) is a plus

Experience

  • At least five years of experience in HIM management functions
  • OnBase application experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Epic or equivalent health information system. 
  • Proven ability to understand business and financial issues and objectives as well as the ability to translate them into application solutions.
  • Proven project manager of medium to large projects of 8-10 team members
  • Possesses understanding in the areas of application architecture, database, document imaging and system design.
  • Familiar with managing departmental Operating and Capital budgets.
  • Excellent communication skills.
