OUR POSITION: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Vice President (AVP), Business Intelligence and Integration.

Position Summary

The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Business Intelligence and Integration will provide leadership and direction to Ardent’s Business Intelligence Reporting, Epic Reporting Suite, Data Warehouse, Data Governance, Production and Test Interface Engines, ETL Extract and Data Mapping and Conversion Groups. 

Strategic responsibilities will include reviewing and providing direction of Ardent’s current and future data models and its accompanying storage priority. Day to Day responsibilities will include reviewing, quantifying and prioritizing incoming request across the many groups managed as well as a diverse user community looking to utilize these services.  This position will interface with Ardent’s executive, clinical, financial and operational leaders, the candidate’s ability to communicate at the strategic as well as the tactical levels of the organization.

In addition the AVP, Business Intelligence and Integration is responsible for developing system strategies in coordination with designated vendors, developing and managing the operating and strategic budgets for the application functions, managing resources to ensure appropriate staffing levels are attained to achieve defined objectives, and mitigating risk and issues between the business and application teams.  Must be an intelligent, articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the Ardent IT management team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Quickly understands the business issues and data challenges of the organization  
  • Develops relationships with strategic stakeholders to ensure alignment and knowledge of data utilization and direction
  • Develops and executes structured problem solving processes and embeds them into team structures
  • Ensures appropriate documentation and controls of all aspects of the teams work product
  • Develops strategic plan on an annual basis in partnership with the business community to ensure data reporting and strategy are in alignment with overall company objectives
  • Coordinates with Corporate Application Leadership to ensure consistency and standardization of Ardent data structures and models is maintained
  • Consistently delivers high-quality services to business stakeholders
  • Conducts regular communications with teams to provide feedback and closed loop channel for continued improvement
  • Delivers informative, well-organized presentations
  • Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
  • Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when using data to solve business problems
  • Collaborates with business stakeholders to introduce innovative solutions
  • Responsible for employee and staff development plans
  • Develops and fosters relationships with business stakeholders
  • Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction
  • Mentors those with less experience through formal and informal channels
  • Ability to travel up to 20%



  • Bachelor’s Degree in data sciences, healthcare administration or IT. Master’s degree is preferred
  • Epic certification in Caboodle/Cogito Data Warehouse is a plus


  • At least 10 years of experience in managing data management teams in a healthcare or related industry
  • At least 10 years of experience with financial forecast and budget responsibilities
  • Proven ability to understand business and clinical issues and objectives as well as the ability to translate them into reports, dashboards, and projections
  • Familiarity with and practical use of data and machine learning tools such as Python, Hadoop, SQL, Apache Spark, machine learning and data visualization
  • Epic data warehouse experience or comparable system is preferred
  • At least 5 years directly managing managers (direct reports) who are managing staff (indirect reports)
  • Excellent communication, presentation and organization skills.
  • Subject matter expertise in programming, statistics, machine learning, data visualization, communication, data wrangling and software engineering
